Every Girl

The Girl Scout organization has always welcomed girls with disabilities, health conditions, and other special needs. At Girl Scouts, we strive to provide camaraderie, fun, and inclusion to every girl. An estimated one in five girls in the United States has some kind of disability. Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of Girl Scouts, was partially deaf — and when she started our organization, she was determined to make it work for all girls.

Including everyone is the foundation on which we build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. Communication between leaders and parents can make a world of difference in understanding and working with every girl, regardless of age, background or any disabilities.
